Overview
The GNG Dividend Forecaster estimates how much dividend income your holdings could pay and when it could arrive. Choose a portfolio or a custom list of tickers and shares, and the forecast projects monthly and annual dividend income 10 years ahead, with dividend reinvestment (DRIP) on or off, your tax rate, and a growth rate for each holding.
The dividend projection shows the months payments are expected to arrive and how each holding contributes over time. Every holding also gets a dividend safety score from 0 to 100, built from payout ratio, dividend growth streak, earnings stability, and debt levels, with an estimated cut risk. Holdings without enough data show N/A instead of a guess.
Built for investors who plan around dividend income, this dividend forecasting tool shows which holdings carry most of your income, which months run light, and what changes when you reinvest dividends instead of taking the cash. Pro Lite and higher plans include it, so create a free GNG account first, then upgrade.

Inside the tool
Income by holding

See each holding's yield, growth rate, payment frequency, and projected income in year 10 with dividends reinvested.
The stock breakdown lists each holding with its shares, current dividend, yield, growth rate, payment frequency, and current income, then its projected dividend and projected dividend income in year 10. With DRIP on, it adds the year-10 share count and yield on cost, so you can see which positions drive future income.
- Sort by stock, current dividend, yield, growth, or year-10 dividend
- Each growth rate is marked historical, override, or fund default
- Year-10 shares and yield on cost appear when DRIP is on
Monthly payment calendar

Plan around the months your dividends arrive, with after-tax income for every month of the year.
The payment calendar shows your monthly dividend income for one forecast year at a time. Each month lists gross and after-tax income and how it compares with the monthly average, so light months stand out before you plan spending around them.
- Switch between years in the forecast
- See annual income and the monthly average
- Payment months come from each holding's dividend history
Capabilities
Choose your holdings
Start from an existing portfolio, combined portfolios, an available GNG model portfolio, or a custom list of tickers and share counts. Manual portfolios and linked brokerage accounts both work as sources. The setup finds the dividend payers and totals their current annual income.
- Search by ticker or company name to build a custom list
- Custom share counts let you test a proposed allocation
Set growth assumptions
Each holding starts from its historical dividend growth rate. Enter your own rate for any holding, from -50% to 20% a year, or reset it. Funds classified as fixed income or money market start at flat growth, since their payouts track interest rates more than steady raises.
- A flat rate holds the dividend per share constant
- Growth rates can differ between holdings
Reinvest or take the cash
Turn DRIP on to reinvest dividends into additional shares, or turn it off to take the cash. Run the same holdings both ways to see how reinvesting changes future income. Set one tax rate to view gross and after-tax income side by side across the default 10-year projection.
- Gross and after-tax income views
- Compare DRIP on and off by running the forecast twice
Read the income projection
Follow projected dividend income year by year and compare monthly gross income with after-tax income. Run a single modeled path, or turn on Monte Carlo mode for a range of income outcomes with a band from the 5th to the 95th percentile.
- Choose how many simulations Monte Carlo mode runs
- Monthly charts follow the selected forecast year
Trace income sources
The stock income timeline shows how each holding's contribution changes across the projection, and the monthly dividend schedule maps holdings to the months they are expected to pay. Together they show which positions fill which months.
- Current and projected income by stock
- Sortable income and payment schedule tables
Review dividend safety
Each holding gets a dividend safety score from 0 to 100 that combines payout ratio, dividend growth streak, earnings stability, and debt levels. Scores of 70 and up read Safe, 40 to 69 read OK, and under 40 read Risk, with an estimated cut risk beside each score and a portfolio average on top.
- Holdings without enough data show N/A, not a guess
- Use the scores alongside your own research into each company
Keep forecast history
Each forecast is saved to your history. Reopen a forecast, rename it, run it again with the same settings, or delete it. GNG Analyst can review your setup before a run or explain the results after one, subject to AI access and credits.
- Revisit the assumptions behind a saved result
- Change one assumption and run again to compare
How it works
Select dividend holdings
Choose a portfolio source or add custom tickers and share counts. Review the dividend payers and their estimated current annual income.
Set the assumptions
Choose whether to reinvest dividends with DRIP or take the cash, set a tax rate, review each growth rate, and decide whether to run Monte Carlo mode.
Read the forecast
Check the annual and monthly income charts, the holding breakdown, the payment calendar, and the safety score and cut risk for each holding.
Revisit the forecast
Open a saved forecast from history to review it, or run its settings again with different growth or reinvestment assumptions.
Common questions
- How much dividend income will my portfolio pay?
- Pick a portfolio or enter tickers and share counts, and the forecaster projects your monthly and annual dividend income for the next 10 years, before and after tax. Treat the result as an estimate: companies and funds can change, cut, or suspend their dividends.
- How do I forecast monthly dividend income?
- Set DRIP and a tax rate, review each holding's growth rate, and run the forecast. The payment calendar then shows the income expected in each month of a forecast year, based on the months each holding has paid in the past.
- Should I reinvest dividends or take the cash?
- It depends on whether you need the income now. Reinvesting with DRIP buys more shares, so later income can grow faster, while taking the cash pays you today. Run the forecast with DRIP on and off to compare the projected income for your own holdings.
- Which plan includes the Dividend Forecaster?
- Pro Lite and higher plans include the Dividend Forecaster. Create a free GNG account first, then upgrade to use the tool. The tool shows how many forecasts you have left.
- Can I change the dividend growth rate for each stock?
- Yes. Each holding starts from its historical dividend growth, and you can enter your own rate between -50% and 20% for any holding. Funds classified as fixed income or money market start at flat growth. No growth rate is a guarantee.
- Does the Dividend Forecaster include a dividend safety score?
- Yes. Each holding gets a score from 0 to 100 built from payout ratio, dividend growth streak, earnings stability, and debt levels, with a Safe, OK, or Risk label and an estimated cut risk. Holdings without enough data show N/A.
